Two students who study on the award winning Level 3 TV and Film course at Northern Regional College, Ballymoney Campus were selected to travel to China with successful local company LSFX Productions to work as part of the crew at the World Barista Championship (WBC). Each year, WBC welcomes champions from more than 50 nations worldwide and competitors are required to prepare 4 espressos, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 original signature drinks in 15 minutes. WBC certified judges from around the world evaluate each performance according to its taste, clarity, creativity and skill.

Northern Regional College Sport’s student, Matthew Brown, is currently undertaking a 9 month coaching internship with UK International Soccer in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. Matthew through his own initiative and support of Northern Regional College secured his internship last year and left home on March to embark on this exciting journey. Having completed his first year of his Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sports course and experienced an element of coaching as well as completing his IFA Level 1 coaching qualification, he decided to take a gap year to take up this lifetime opportunity.

The Trail, designed to lead the visitor off the beaten track and aimed at international and domestic visitors, is available online and via mobile phones . The Trail covers 60 miles (almost 100km) between the Giant`s Causeway World Heritage Site and the City of Derry, on the banks of the River Foyle. It showcases prehistoric landscapes, a medieval castle, Georgian follies, beautiful churches and a cathedral as well as fabulous views. Named after Frederick Hervey, the fourth Earl of Bristol and Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry, the trail can be followed either by car or bicycle, however hikers will find plenty of walks and no shortage of public transport for when legs get tired.
