Role of Examinations Team
The Examinations team aim to provide both internal and external students with an effective and efficient service when overseeing and administering the whole exams process whilst adhering to the JCQ regulations. This may include managing timetable clashes, ensuring special requirements are met and liaising with external awarding bodies.
The exams team will provide information on:
- Closing dates for examination entries
- Examination entry and registration fees
- Dates, times and venues of examinations
- Dates of result and certification issue.

Certificates
All certificates are held at campus receptions, with the exception of Ballymoney, where they must be collected from Coleraine campus reception. Students are advised to bring photographic identification with them when collecting their certificate(s) - for example, Northern Regional College student card, driver’s licence, passport are acceptable. These certificates can either be collected throughout the year from these offices, or they will be presented at the Higher Education Graduation in December. Any lost or destroyed certificates may be replaced by contacting the appropriate awarding body; online application forms to apply for replacement certificates can be found on most awarding bodies’ websites. JCQ certificates will be retained for a maximum period of 1 year from the date of issue. A fee, payable to the relevant Awarding Body, will be charged for any certificates not collected within this timeframe.
Information for Private Candidates
We accept private candidates (students not registered on a relevant class within our centre) who wish to sit an examination at one of our campuses (terms and conditions apply). Closing dates and fees can be obtained by contacting any of the Examinations Offices listed above.
Please note that it is not always possible to accommodate requests from private candidates and that candidates should contact their nearest Examinations Office for further information and advice.
Information for All Candidates
Closing date for Summer 2020 GCSE exam entries is 31st January 2020.
Late fees will be charged from Monday 3rd February 2020 to Friday 14th February and no entries will be accepted after 14th February 2020.
*Photographic identification must be brough to ALL examinations. Please ensure you are in the examination room at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam.*
IPODs, Mobile Phones, MP3/4 Players, Smartwatches, No Potential Technological/Web Enabled Sources of Information are prohibited from the examination room. Possession of unauthorsied items, such as a mobile phone, is a serious offence and could result in DISQUALIFICATION from your examination and your overall qualification.
Unique Learner Numbers
Northern Regional College uses Learner Registration Service (LRS) to obtain Unique Learner Numbers (ULN) for students and private candidates registering with an awarding body through Northern Regional College.
