LSFX, a Broadcasting and Media Production company were employed by the organisers of the event to provide audio-visual and media support for the duration of the competition. Students Johnny Hartin and Jacob Henry travelled with the company as part of their crew. Johnny explains, “Travelling to Shanghai has been a brilliant experience and an outstanding opportunity. Each day consisted of 18 hours. I would arrive at the venue and make my way to my stage and set up the Sony HD camera. Due to the stage using a large L.E.D. screen I needed to set the cameras shutter speed to 60fps to stop the flickering of the lights I would then make sure that the camera was set to full manual so as if a judge walks in front of the camera then the focus, white balance and exposure doesn’t change. The main camera that I had used was mainly a wide shot but I would change this to a medium shot of the competitor when pouring the coffee. We didn’t only develop our technical skills but we got great experience into how far this industry can take us. I would like to thank LSFX for taking me to Shanghai and thank the college for these brilliant opportunities that they offer their students. “
Darren Gardiner, LSFX Managing Director said, “ It was a pleasure working with the students from Northern Regional College at our recent event in Shanghai. From initial contact with the team through to completion of the project we found them professional and competent. Jonny and Jacob are an asset to the college and we see a bright future for them in the industry. I think it speaks volumes about the programme being delivered by Northern Regional College that we were confident enough in the standard of training the students are receiving to allow them to work with us on such prestigious projects. “
