Northern Regional College student Ross McMullan (20) from Ballymoney knows exactly what he’ll be doing on Saturday May 19. He’ll be mingling with the other lucky guests who received a prized invitation to the grounds of Windsor Castle to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. Ross, who is a past pupil of Sandleford School in Coleraine is a LifeSkills student at the College’s Ballymoney Campus where he studies a range of subjects, including IT, Cookery and Health and Safety.

Northern Regional College has secured support and funding from the British Council to engage in a new one year ISP Foundation project in 2018/19 with Sekhukhune TVET College (SC) in Groblersdal, Limpopo Province South Africa. The aim of the project is to increase skills in Carpentry and Joinery. College staff, supported by local companies and Industry Representative Bodies (UK and SA), will benchmark skills competitions and develop a common international skills tasks for students to complete.

The bar is raised every year and while the students admit that it will be hard to top last year’s enjoyable performance of School of Legends, they are going all out to do just that.

Sean McNamee (21) from Bellaghy and Sarah McCluney (20) from Ballymena are both fourth year motor vehicle apprentices at the College’s Ballymena campus. They are apprentices with FS Auto Repairs in Draperstown and Curtis Peugeot in Ballymena respectively.

Top performing students intending to take up a place on a full time undergraduate course in September 2018 are encouraged to apply for the prestigious JP McManus Scholarship Scheme. Closing date for applications is June 29. The scheme is open to students currently in receipt of the Educational Maintenance Allowance who are due to commence an undergraduate degree this autumn.
