Northern Regional College is working in partnership with Neighbourhood Renewal Areas across Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area to deliver lifelong learning to local community groups. The Department of Communities (DfC) funded project has been running for the past number of years in local community venues in Ballyclare providing training courses covering a range of subjects.

The regional finals of SkillWeld 2018 – the UK’S most prestigious national welding competition were held at Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus. Young welders across Northern Ireland took part in the competition to be in with a chance of qualifying for the national finals in Birmingham later this year - and a step closer to a potentially lucrative career as an industrial welder.

Northern Regional College and Belfast International Airport are continuing to work together meet the development needs of local students and the airline/airport sector of the travel and tourism industry. To mark another successful year of the Travel and Tourism Level 3 programme at the College, students from the Ballymena campus attended a series of informal talks and presentations by senior managers at Belfast International Airport. During their visit to the airport, the students were also presented with certificates for successfully completing their accredited awards in Airline and Airport Passenger Service Agent Skills and Cabin Crew Operations.
