Northern Regional College is extending the popular Career Ready programme to include Business students at its Magherafelt and Coleraine campuses. Building on the success of the IT and Engineering programmes, from September 2018 Level 3 Business students at both campuses will be eligible to participate in the Career Ready programme. Career Ready gives students the necessary employability skills and support needed to get on a good career path. It includes a programme of mentoring, masterclasses, workplace visits and a paid summer internship.

James Heaney, a Foundation Degree Engineering student from Ballymena, won the Dayle Smyth Endeavour award and Antrim student Sam Courtney was awarded the Concorde Cup for the Best Student Achievement on BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

Kate, who completed a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism at the College’s Coleraine campus, takes up a new role as Travel Advisor with Selective Travel Management in Belfast, Northern Ireland’s largest independent travel company.

Three Northern Regional College Lifeskills students – a programme offering support for adults with learning difficulties - have clocked up an incredible combined total of 48 years in the workplace. Philip Waring and Jason Smyth are students at the College’s Coleraine campus while William McCosh is a student at Ballymoney. All three attend the College two days a week. With 19 years’ service under his belt, Philip is one of the longest serving employees at McDonald’s in Coleraine while regular shoppers to Dunne’s Store in the town will be familiar with Jason who has been working there for over 15 years.
