In June Irvine joined colleagues from six UK colleges and met with South African counter-parts. The introductory briefing session was held at the British Council office, Johannesburg after which partners left to spend the remainder of the week with host college partners.
Irvine explained, “During the week-long visit at Vuselela TVET College I was involved in various activities which included attending British Council briefing and debriefing meetings, touring the three campuses - Corporate, Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp – meeting with middle management team/lecturers in Business and Tourism) as well as participating in cultural visits to a Game Lodge, Klerksdorp Museum and Soweto. This study visit enabled us to explore the two different campus management models for both Colleges and discuss how it impacts on curriculum planning, delivery and quality assurance. From this we were able to propose a way forward for embedding international activity at both Colleges.”
