Northern Regional College and the McKeever Hotel Group, in conjunction with the Department for the Economy, has developed an intensive programme to give unemployed people the skills needed to apply for vacancies within the Group.

Over 120 students and parents, including a group of 20 students from Sandleford School in Coleraine, attended the first event at the College’s Ballymoney campus. Among those to receive certificates of achievements were Lifeskills students who completed entry level awards in ICT, Literacy, Numeracy, Cookery and Independent Travel.

Want to top up your GCSE English or Maths grade? We have introduced short GCSE revision classes starting from Monday 17 September at our Trostan Avenue, Magherafelt and Newtownabbey campus to help you get up to speed for January series of examinations. If you are already enrolled on a full-time course at the College you will only have to pay for the examination fee, for all other students there is an additional tuition fee. Almost forty full-time and part-time staff from across all departments in the popular County Antrim hotel have now completed accredited training programmes in Customer Service and Sales. Both courses were delivered by Hayley Love, a part time lecturer at the College who has a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector.

Fifty staff are to undergo JAM card awareness training to help them make users of the card feel welcome across all campuses. The JAM card, which stands for Just A Minute, is a simple but effective innovation aimed at supporting people with learning difficulties and autism.

Kathleen, who works in the Accounts department of West Rock in Mallusk, has just completed the first year of the two year ATI certificate at Northern Regional College’s Magherafelt campus. She says having a recognised accounting qualification will help progress her career.
