Art and Design students from the Northern Regional College have collaborated with Oyster Press, St. Pius and Magherafelt High Schools to produce an outstanding printmaking exhibition currently held in the Bridewell Magherafelt until the end of May and moving to the Waterfront Hall, Belfast in June.

Sixteen NRC apprentices over half of which are from Ballymena are set to compete in different construction trades at Skillbuild 2014 next week. Skillbuild NI run by CITB-ConstructionSkills NI is held annually each spring, with the top local construction apprentices competing to win coveted titles ranging from brickwork to wall and floor tiling. The winners may then go on to represent Northern Ireland in the Skills Show UK and potentially at WorldSkills.

Two Ballymoney NRC apprentices are set to compete in the brickwork category at Skillbuild 2014 next week. NRC hopefuls Joel Lamont and Jordan Douglas have put in weeks of intensive training in the hope of bringing home the gold in this prestigious competition.

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry today announced that Northern Ireland will play host for the first time to the WorldSkills 2015 UK Squad Selection. Between 24-26 June 2014, over 160 of the UK’s most talented apprentices and learners will battle it out over three days of intense competition in Northern Ireland with the hope of securing a place in Squad UK for WorldSkills Sao Paulo 2015.

Construction students from across Northern Regional College visited the SustainEx 2014 show at the La Mon House Hotel in Belfast. Students from Coleraine, Ballymena and Newtownabbey travelled together to the event. The trip was organised by Pat Condren, a lecturer in the Built Environment, based at NRC Coleraine and the students were accompanied by David Maxwell (Ballymena), Brendan Hinds (Newtownabbey), Chris Keating and Connie Condren (both Coleraine).
