Two NRC apprentices have been selected to attend the National Union of Students National Conference next week. The conference takes place from Tuesday 21 April to Thursday 23 April at the ACC in Liverpool and over 1000 students are expected to attend.

Local employers are invited to an information event at the Coleraine Campus of Northern Regional College on Thursday 23rd April 12 – 1pm to find out more information about the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Accounting starting September 2015. The College supported by Accounting Technicians Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland is piloting this programme and up to 16 successful apprentices will be recruited.

Andrew Kelly a current Northern Regional College Foundation Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering student, is about to embark on a Stateside trip on the SUSA Programme. The Study USA programme, originally known as the Business Education Initiative, was established in 1994. It is a highly successful and innovative programme which offers undergraduate students studying in Northern Ireland the opportunity to study business and management for one academic year at universities and colleges in the USA. The programme is administered by the Department for Employment and Learning and delivered by the British Council.

CALL Project Celebrates Success

The CALL Project (Community Access to Life Long Learning) was funded by the Department of Social Development. It commenced on 1st November 2013 and finished on 31st March 2015 with a total budget of £88,581. The programme provided community based learning opportunities for the residents of the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Ballymena and Ballyclare.

Northern Regional College’s Brian McAlister has been named as the Northern Ireland winner in the prestigious Sir Winfried Bischoff Award, which recognises the UK’s most promising students. Brian, who was just one of 12 students selected to take part in the College’s pioneering Engineering Career Academy is in the running to be named as the student who has made the most progress on their two-year journey completing his studies and a placement at McAuley Engineering.
