Northern Regional College Prince’s Trust students joined forces this year with the Fort Centre RDA NI in Maghera. The Fort Centre is a non-profit organisation which provides therapeutic riding programmes for children and adults with varying degrees of disabilities and learning difficulties. The centre is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers offering sessions throughout the day and evening time. Recently two of the horses have reached retirement age so they have had to purchase a new horse. Unfortunately the centre have not been granted funding for this so they have had to take the cost from their own limited budget. It is here where the Prince’s Trust Team’s fundraising comes in.

A team of Northern Regional College's Newtownabbey Prince’s Trust students recently won the Social Innovation Student Challenge event in Belfast which was part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). The event in The Hive on 18 November 2015 was organised by Belfast City Council and was designed for teams of students to create innovative solutions to five social challenges.

Northern Regional College students from the Foundation Degree in Building Technology and Management were in DerryLondonderry recently to participate in two interesting study visits as part of Global Entrepreneurship week. The visits were organised by Course Director, Pat Condren and the group was accompanied by Curriculum Manager, Paul McCandless. For the first visit of the day, Northern Ireland’s Chief Planner, Fiona McCandless welcomed the group to the DOE regional office at Ebrington Square.

Students support Ballymena Research Project

The Northern Regional College have partnered with Ballymena BID (Business Improvement District) to carry out market research into the businesses within the Ballymena BID area, to establish their level of digital presence. Students will then make conclusions and recommendations based on the analysis of the findings.

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry today launched the first CNC Milling Academy which will be delivered by Northern Regional College at its Farm Lodge Campus in Ballymena. Developed through the Department’s Assured Skills initiative the Academy will provide six participants with the skills and experience required to take up new opportunities in the engineering sector with RLC Engineering in both Crumlin and Newtownabbey.
