Thirteen staff at Morelli’s of Portstewart are among the latest graduates of the Northern Regional College’s Food Hygiene training scheme. The College provides training accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health which is part funded by the DfE Skills Focus programme and it is delivered at its Ballymena and Ballymoney Campuses.
Continue ReadingA talented young designer from Glengormley has qualified for the finals of the prestigious WorldSkills competition in Graphic Design. Matthew McLaughlin (17), who is studying Interactive Media at Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus, is one of seven students from the College to qualify. Having excelled at the College and regional qualifying competitions, they get to pit their wits against the cream of skilled young people from all over the UK at the national finals. The finals, which will be attended by an estimated 70,000 people, will be held over four days this November at the NEC, Birmingham.

Continue ReadingPerforming arts students at Northern Regional College took part in a staged road accident at the College’s Newtownabbey campus last week to help drive home the message that road safety is everyone’s business. Road crashes are the biggest killer of young people worldwide and the event, aimed at highlighting the shocking aftermath of an accident, was organised by the College’s Student Services team, in partnership with the PSNI, the Fire and Rescue Service and the Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

The Gold Centre Award is based on the success rates of the students studying for IAB qualifications; the range of IAB qualifications offered by the College; the length of time the College has been IAB accredited; and the number of students registered on IAB courses each year.
