Morelli Staff Complete Food Hygiene Training

Friday

Thirteen staff at Morelli’s of Portstewart are among the latest graduates of the Northern Regional College’s Food Hygiene training scheme. The College provides training accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health which is part funded by the DfE Skills Focus programme and it is delivered at its Ballymena and Ballymoney Campuses.

Congratulating company owner Damian Morelli, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said: “Hospitality and tourism are very important to our area and we are delighted to see local businesses maintaining high standards through staff training.  Food Hygiene courses are also provided by the Council’s Environmental Health Department, as part of our commitment to ensuring food premises operate in a safe way for all.”

Damian Morelli said: "We have found the training provided by Northern Regional College to be very beneficial to our business in ensuring the highest of standards and enabling us to maintain our excellent reputation for food preparation and service. We all enjoyed the courses and the tuition was excellent."

Penney Johnston, Food Hygiene lecturer at Northern Regional College said: “We would encourage any business involved in supplying food to the public to explore the opportunity to have staff trained. It is a very worthwhile investment by employers and there is often government funding available to offset the costs. Staff appreciate the investment their employer is making in them and that underpins good working relationships.”
