New Assured Skills Academy offering 20 training places in logistics

Northern Regional College and the Department for the Economy are offering 20 Assured Skills Academy training places for people to train as logistics and transport coordinators. Participants in the Assured Skills Academy will receive six weeks of industry-relevant pre-employment training at Northern Regional College's Newtownabbey Campus leading to an industry recognised qualification. Successfully completing the course also guarantees a job interview. The Academy is open for applications on Monday 13 January 2020.
Continue ReadingEngineering apprentices from Northern Regional College in partnership with Ryobi were inspired at their graduation ceremony when Ryobi Managing Director David Watson was presented with an Honorary Fellowship. The College has a long-standing relationship with Ryobi, who support the College’s apprentices as they acquire their Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering. The apprenticeship sees students spending one day per week at Northern Regional College and four days per week at Ryobi, giving them a balance of practical and theoretical learning. In recognition of the effective training provided throughout this qualification, in 2018 the College won the Chamber of Business Award with Ryobi for their Education Business Partnership.
Continue ReadingLocal playgroup leader Karen Traynor has received a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Children Care Learning and Development at Northern Regional College’s annual Higher Education graduation ceremony. Karen, who is a leader at Stepping Stones Playgroup in Ballymoney, admitted that initially, she was very apprehensive about doing the course but said her fears were totally ungrounded. Now that she has successfully completed the course, she said she is delighted to have been given the opportunity to do it.

A group of former Thomas Cook employees have undergone intensive IT training course at Northern Regional College to help improve their employability. Northern Regional College developed the fast-track IT course after being approached by cabin crew of the now-defunct travel operator.
