Study USA, formerly known as the Business Education Initiative, is managed by British Council Northern Ireland on behalf of the Department for the Economy. Previous recipients of Study USA scholarships found that the experience and knowledge they gained during their year in the US was invaluable and considerably enhanced their career prospects on their return to Northern Ireland.
Since its formation in 1994, the initiative has sent over 2000 students from Northern Ireland to all four corners of the United States where they have successfully completed a year studying business at one of 140 institutions.
North Regional College student Adam Pidgeon is currently spending a year out at King's College in Pennsylvania as part of the Study USA 2019-20 programme.
Adam (20), who has taken a year out from his Foundation Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering said: “I decided to take part in Study USA as I hope it will give me insights and opportunities which I would not otherwise have – increasing my employment prospects as well as gaining vital experience I can add to my CV.
Adam, who is one of three Northern Regional College students to secure a Study USA scholarship this year, is joined by Tyson McKeown and Matthew Sterritt.
