As part of the College Industry Initiative, the Level 2 Travel and Tourism students visited the company for a unique education talk which was provided by Andrew Potter. They gained a valuable insight into, how the designation has helped to accelerate tourism to the City and into the role of the Culture Company marketing department, during the year long programme.
NRC Travel & Tourism Lecturer Vivienne Baldwin said that “The students were given a wonderful opportunity to gain up-to-the-minute information about the tourism industry and further develop their knowledge and skills. They also learned about the importance and the value of the relationships between the various travel and tourism organisations involved worked.”
Before they left the City of Culture, the students visited the Turner Prize which attracted thousands of visitors. Their visits final stop was to the City of Derry Airport, where an informative talk was provided by Mervyn Quigg on the functional areas and facilities at the Airport. Students were invited to witness a flight arrival and departure from the viewing tower at the Airport.
