NRC Travel & Tourism Students visit Dublin’s Fair City

Tuesday

NRC Level 3 Extended Diploma students in Travel & Tourism, as part of their studies have visited Dublin, to explore tourism opportunities in the capital city. The aim of the visit was to build up their knowledge and skills, by completing a residential study visit unit, promoting teambuilding and organisational life skills.

Karen McLeod NRC Travel & Tourism said “The visit provided the opportunity for Travel & Tourism students across the NRC Campuses, to travel together and work as a team and experience tourism outside of their local areas.”

The students visited Dublin’s top attractions including Butler’s Chocolate Factory, The Guinness Factory, Dublin Zoo and Dublin’s Temple Bar district.

During their visit to Dublin Zoo, they were given a presentation about the animals and conservation and the role of a Zoo, in today’s modern world. They learned about the importance of the Zoo, in relation to the tourism industry and how it can contribute to the growth of the economy.

Karen added that “The students really enjoyed the whole trip and in particular the first time experience of Butler’s Chocolate factory. They were given the opportunity to sample chocolate and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of designing their own Easter chocolates in the laboratory.

The students were accompanied by NRC Lecturers Coleen McGrath, Karen McLeod and Paul Garrett.
