NRC Student Takes Part in Study USA Programme

Wednesday

Neil Craig, a current Northern Regional College HND Electrical & Electronic Engineering student, is enjoying success Stateside on the SUSA Programme, achieving the highest grades possible.

Study USA (SUSA) is a scholarship to study business-related subjects at a US College for one academic year. The programme is administered by the Department for Employment and Learning and delivered by the British Council.

Neil has finished the Fall Semester in Methodist University, North Carolina, with the highest grade possible, a 4.0 Grade Point Average. Neil achieved ‘A’ grades in all his classes and feedback from his US Professors suggests that he is making a fantastic contribution to all areas of campus life.

Neil studied A-Levels before joining NRC in September 2010. During his first year of study on HND Electrical & Electronic Engineering, he applied to obtain a fully funded one year placement, worth $25000,  in a university in the USA to study business as part of the SUSA (Study USA) programme. He was successful, and was matched with his choice of university in North Carolina.

He started his course in the USA in August 2012, and completed his year of study in June 2013. He has now started the HND Engineering programme at NRC in the 2013/14 academic year. Neil also spent 12 months on a Level 5 engineering work placement in JTI Ballymena prior to leaving for his SUSA year.
