NRC Student Cuts Long Hair For Charity

Tuesday

Bethan Harris, who attends the Northern Regional College in Ballymena, had grown her hair for five years before cutting it off in order to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

Bethan, who studies Childcare at NRC, had her ponytail snipped at ‘Shine’, the College’s Hairdressing Salon, where her colleagues, friends and family sponsored her generous gift to the charity. The Little Princess Trust is an extraordinary charity which provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment. The Little Princess Trust supply and fund the best wigs available worldwide.

Bethan said, “When I learned about this amazing charity, I told my parents that this was something I wanted to do, to give the gift of my long hair so a child could benefit and have a high quality wig. I think it’s important to do charity work at any age and I was lucky that I have already had the opportunity to travel to Sangam in India with the NI Girl Guides last year where I was part of a project team which supported the local community by redecorating their medical treatment rooms.”

Bethan plans to regrow her hair so that she can donate again to the Little Princess Trust in the future, and added that she would encourage others to consider giving the gift of their hair to this charity.
