Gemma McGranaghan, Performing Arts course co-ordinator at Newtownabbey campus, has extensive knowledge and experience of this specialist subject area having studied Theatre Studies at the University of Ulster, Coleraine and previously teaching and co-ordinating Level 2 and Level 3 in Performing Arts course in the Ballymoney Campus for over 10 years.
Gemma, commented “The new Performing Arts course will give students the opportunity to study drama and dance, and take part in a number of performing opportunities both on site and in external venues. Assessment will be both practical and written, with the practical taking the higher percentage. Students who successfully complete the course will gain entry on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, starting in September 2015. This is a very exciting time for the College and for Newtownabbey and I look forward to welcoming many new students to the College in September.”
The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts course is a one year full-time programme, equivalent to 4 GCSEs Grade C and above. Upon successful completion of the course, students can apply for a place on the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts course that is planned to run at the Newtownabbey Campus in September 2015.
