NRC Medical Administration Students Visits Antrim Hospital

Friday

Students from the Northern Regional College who are studying for their Level 2 and Level 3 in Medical Administration have visited the new extension at Antrim Area Hospital. The purpose of their visit was to see the new medical records section at the hospital

The purpose of their visit was to see the new medical records section at the hospital and learn at first-hand how the Northern Trust has merged all the new administration records from the surrounding hospitals of Moyle, Whiteabbey, Causeway and Mid Ulster.

NRC Lecturer Maureen McVicker said “The students were very impressed with the new section of the building. They received a guided tour from Mary Williamson, Head of Medical Records at the hospital who provided them with the opportunity to see how the new systems work and put into context how confidential patient records are managed.  Visits such as these are invaluable to the student as they gain a deeper insight and understanding into how a very busy hospital operates on a day to day basis.”
