NRC Magherafelt Prince’s Trust Participate in Community Project

Monday

Northern Regional College Prince’s Trust students at the Magherafelt Campus have participated in a community project in Killowen Estate. The young people, who are aged between 16 and 25 years worked as a team to transform an area of waste ground beside pensioner’s bungalows, into a garden, so that the residents could all enjoy the new plot.

NRC Princes Trust Co-ordinator/Lecturer Ryan McMullan said “As part of their 12 week programme, the students undertake a community project which helps them develop their team and employability skills. At the same time it allows them give something back into the local community.”

Participants on this course learn new skills and gain increased confidence, motivation and other employability skills while working towards a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification in Employment, Team Work and Communication Skills.

Ryan added that, “We ensure that the programme is delivered in a fun and interactive way, while challenging at the same time.”
