NRC Larne Prince’s Trust participate in Community Project

Wednesday

Northern Regional College Prince's Trust students from Larne participated in a community project at Larne Adult Learning Centre. The young people, who are aged between 16 and 25 years worked as a team alongside the Adult Learning Centre to design, draw and paint an image on the outside wall of the patio area of the Centre, which represented different rooms of the centre (rainbow room, green room and butterfly room).

Ryan McMullan, NRC Prince's Trust Co-ordinator said "As part of their 12 week programme, the students undertake a community project which helps them develop their team and employability skills.  At the same time it allows them to give some to give something back to the local community.  The students thoroughly enjoyed this project and to recognise the hard work and dedication of the students, an event was orgniased to mark the official unveiling of the wall by the Mayor of Larne, Martin Wilson"

Participants on this course learned new skills and gained increased confidence, motivation and other employability skills while working towards a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification in Employment, team Work and Communication Skills.  Ryan added that, "We ensure that the programme is delivered in a fun and interactive way, while challenging at the same time."
