Students were involved in manufacturing tyres (Michelin), oil drilling components (Schlumberger), automotive components (Ryobi), aircraft components (Hutchinson Eng), bus components (SJMcAuley Engineering), designing air pressure sensors (Schrader Electronics) and designing factory layouts (NITC).
2 of the students have currently secured paid part-time work with their placement companies and are now working 2 days per day whilst completing their studies.
The Career Academy (Engineering) students commenced the second year of their students at Farm Lodge campus at a Northern Ireland Career Academy event in Todds Leap, Ballygawley where they were joined by 60 other Career Academies students from BMET, SWC, SRC, SERC & NWRC colleges around NI for a team building, motivational, adrenaline pumping day.

NRC Career Academy (Engineering) students participate in a Northern Ireland Career Academy Team Building event in Todds Leap, Ballygawley.
The students are now focused on completing their studies and will graduate from the Career Academy programme in May 2015 in London.
NRC has been the first college in Northern Ireland to pilot an Engineering Career Academy programme and now offers FE Students a direct route into employment and is ultimately aimed at increasing their employability. The programme is funded by DEL and supported heavily by local industry who view the programme as a way to recruit and importantly build a pool of engineering staff. NRC is now recruiting from existing Level 3 Yr 1 Engineering students for its second cohort group. These successful students shall complete their placements in industry in summer 2014 and benefit from a number of other programme components across the 2 year programme.
