The Performing Arts students put on a rendition of ‘Blood Wedding’, a dramatic play using surrealism and Spanish folk culture penned by famed Spanish playwright Federico Garcia Lorca.
The play is a tragedy depicting the story of a young woman and two men fighting for her love. Focusing on the bride and the two men who love her, Blood Wedding examines the societal norms that keep her from being with the man she loves and explores the power of desire unveiling the consequences of gender roles and isolation.
Gemma McGranaghan, Course Coordinator of Performing Arts for the Department of Creative Industries at the College’s Newtownabbey Campus commented:
“Our students work extremely hard throughout the year to hone their skills and harness their creativity, so it’s immensely rewarding for them, and for us, to watch a fantastic performance such as this one.”
“The performance we have seen here tonight is a testament to the incredible creative talent which is emerging from the College.”
