Northern Regional College Awarded Matrix Quality Standard

Monday

Northern Regional College has been awarded the Matrix Quality Standard Award for Student Services, underlining the College’s commitment to providing all students with high quality, impartial advice and guidance. The Matrix Standard is a unique quality framework for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals. The College’s advice and guidance services were assessed on four key elements including leadership and management, resources, service delivery and continual quality improvement.

Northern Regional College first achieved the Matrix Standard with a focus on Careers Advice and Guidance in 2015. Dr Laura Firth, Head of Quality, Exams & Student Experience at the College explained why the decision was taken to broaden the scope of this year’s assessment, "The Student Services team at the College were keen extend the Matrix assessment to include the full range of student support services on offer to our students, that provide that impartial advice, guidance and support across the key College areas of Education Support, Student Finance, Careers, Libraries, Student Engagement, and Health & Well-being,  These are fundamental core functions of the College that are key to the success of our students and for the College in achieving its key objectives."

Stephen McCartney, Head of Student Services at the College said that achieving the Matrix Standard reinforced Northern Regional College’s commitment to its students and other stakeholders in the provision of high quality, impartial advice and guidance.

“We are delighted to achieve the Matrix Quality Standard as it highlights the consistently high standard of support services the College provides for all our students.  Since being awarded the Matrix Standard for Careers Advice and Guidance in 2015, we have strived to improve and made excellent progress in the areas identified for further development.”
