Northern Regional College and Partner Schools Celebrate Achievement

Thursday

Celebrating excellence was the theme of the day for two outstanding students who were recognised for their achievements in Occupational Studies by the Council of the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA). At the ‘Celebrate with CCEA’ awards ceremony hosted at Titanic, Belfast., celebrating with Northern Regional College were Adela Puterkova from St. Patrick’s College, Ballymena, who was awarded Learner of the Year Award in Occupational Studies: Design and Creativity Level 2 and Katie Farquhar from Dunclug College, who was awarded Learner of the Year Award in Occupational Studies: Environment and Society Level 2.

The pupils attended the College one day per week and studied four modules as part of their training to achieve their Occupational Studies qualification - during Year 11 and Year 12 this programme focuses on job related learning and offers students the opportunity to gain work related skills in a number of vocational areas.

Congratulating the students on their achievements Mairead Convery, Educational Partnerships Co-ordinator at Northern Regional College stated:

“Pupils undertaking this programme with us make an excellent choice as it allows them to sample a vocational area and learn the practical skills, providing them with valuable experience in preparation for progression to employer-based training programmes or employment. The two award winners were outstanding students on this programme and I congratulate them, their families, partner schools and academic staff on their success.”

CCEA’s Chief Executive, Justin Edwards added:

“This is an occasion where the spotlight shines on many learners’ achievements. At CCEA we recognise that educational achievement may be found within a broad range of abilities and subject areas. This event celebrates the diversity of learners as well as their hard work and personal achievements.

“Well done to all of our winners, and to all of the people who have played their part in their success.”
