Along with the accolade, Northern Regional College has received £500, courtesy of Santander, to invest in materials and equipment to benefit their Career Academies Engineering programme for future students.
Dr Brian Hill, Head of School for Engineering and Science at Northern Regional College explains ‘We are delighted to have been placed third in in the Santander Career Academy of the Year. We are the only college in Northern Ireland to have been shortlisted and placed in this national competition and we are very proud of our staff and students for their dedication to this Engineering Academy. This commitment along with the support of local industry has reflected on the progression of our students and their preparation for work.’
Anne Spackman, Chief Executive of Career Academies UK, said: “The Santander award recognises outstanding achievement in preparing young people for career success. To come third out of nearly 200 schools and colleges across the UK is a fantastic accolade and on behalf of the whole charity I congratulate Northern Regional College and look forward to hearing how they plan to spend their prize money.”
