Workshops included discover how to build a Lego Robot or develop a mobile phone app with NRC IT Staff, participate in a practical exercise at Anderson Park with qualified Quantity Surveyors using civil engineering equipment and investigate the causes and consequences of Ebola.
Professor James Dooley (Microbiology Professor at Ulster University) provided Year 12 students an informative and enlightening presentation on infectious diseases, epidemiology and ebola followed by a practical exercise pouring agar streaking plates and using Aseptic techniques by NRC Science Lecturers.
Dr Johanne Brolly, NRC Science Lecturer explained “NRC Stemfest has been a great success, students have thoroughly enjoyed the on-hands experience, with each workshop allowing students to obtain a further insight into what is involved in each STEM discipline. This is an event that we hope to hold again in the future.”
