LEDCOM celebrate first course completion at Surestart

Surestart, LEDCOM and NRC celebrated the success of ten local women who completed the first course under the Learner Access & Engagement Programme (LAE) funded by the Department for Employment & Learning. The women enjoyed the accredited 15 week creative craft which involved basic mixed craft skills. A variety of beautiful work was created by the participants including, personalised cushions, bags , a jewellery box, children’s bunting and other bespoke designs and creations.

Ashley Stewart one of the course participants commented, “ I really enjoyed the course and surprised myself on what I could achieve, I definitely plan to do another course”.

LEDCOM acknowledge the support of Janet Preston and her team at Surestart, Action for children in working with us to bring the courses into the heart of the community.  It was particularly beneficial to have childcare on site for the participants.

LEDCOM offer a range of course under the Learner Access & Engagement Programme including, essential skills, English, Maths and ICT, Counselling, a variety of creative craft courses and much more.  We are particularly keen to hear from local people who are currently out of work and have few qualifications; however the courses are open to everyone.

LEDCOM are also keen to hear from local community & voluntary groups, Churches and schools in Larne Borough who are keen to work with us in hosting the classes in their local venues.
