The workshop included sessions on Campus Management, Finance, Communication, Personal Growth Plans and Leaving a Legacy as well as Industry Links, International Relations, Impact of Technology and Sharing Good Practice. Rulaine Cunningham Deputy Principal Academic from Northlink College closed the workshop with a 'Future Vision' wrap up session.
A key aspect of the international visit included ongoing dialogue on the development of Northlink’s Centre of Specialism (CNC) and how the sharing of good practice with Northern Regional College can bring benefit to both institutions. Both Colleges have agreed to undertake a two way exchange during 2018/19 to explore TVET skills development in advanced manufacturing techniques and how to strengthen links with industry. It is anticipated that in future years the partnership will include inter-partnership skills competitions in CNC.
Responding after the visit Rulaine Cunningham, Deputy Principal Academic said:
“Our thanks go to Irvine for his contribution at our Management and Leadership Workshop and for being the Guest Speaker at our Graduation. Irvine has a wealth of knowledge that he shared with us at the workshop and for this we are very grateful. The feedback has been extremely positive from all who attended and the management are motivated to do things differently going forward.
The students and parents were also very impressed with the motivational message that Irvine shared with us at the Graduation. We are very proud to be able to partner with Northern Regional College and hope that this partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Notwithstanding the focused activity undertaking during this visit both Colleges continue to work collectively to map the curriculum offering to determine common areas and areas of specialisation, defining and agreeing on a roadmap for short, medium and long-term actions, and identify of specific components of the MoA that could be supported through external funding.
The next activity is planned for October/November 2018 whereby a staff member and student from Northern Regional College's Engineering Department will travel to Northlink College to undertake a one week study visit.
