After leaving Coleraine High School, Stacey completed an Associate Bachelor's Degree in Fashion & Textile Design at Ulster University Belfast, graduating in 2015. She worked in retail with the National Trust at Giant’s Causeway for a year before being taken on as a Trainee Estimator with Mivan.
Stacey said: “I had no previous experience in the construction industry at all when I started with Mivan. The Foundation Degree was offered to me by my employer as a way to build up my knowledge of the industry.”
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, Stacey was able to progress within Mivan, the Antrim based specialist construction and fit-out company and has taken on a new role as Graduate Estimator.
The Foundation Degree in Building Technology and Management is offered on a part-time basis at the College’s Coleraine campus. Stacey attended College one day a week and spent the other four days with her employer, where she was able to apply she was taught in class in her day to day work.
“The course has been very helpful. It has given me a good understanding of the construction industry in general and the relevant job role responsibilities within it and in particular, I learnt a lot about my own role that I was able to apply to my day to day work,” Stacey added.
