Entrepreneurship Masterclass for NRC Students

NRC students have participated in a Global Entrepreneurship Masterclass at Newtownabbey Borough Council, which was organised by Young Enterprise. The students who are studying of their Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production, Interactive Media course were provide with the opportunity along with four other local schools to participate in the Young Business Dragons Den competition.

The Mayor of Newtownabbey Alderman Fraser Agnew welcomed the young entrepreneurs to the masterclass and was joined by Laura Kerr from Young Enterprise who provided the background and format to the competition. Participating in the event was Monkstown Community School, Newtownabbey Community High School, Ballyclare High School and Ballyclare Secondary School.

lIrvine Abraham, NRC Business Development Manager said “This event is an international initiative that introduces entrepreneurship to young people. The students had to prepare a business plan and then make a Dragons Den presentation. It was a great opportunity for them to take part and compete against other students. They had to be innovative, creative and think about real business issues such as the product, marketing, price and the customer. They benefited from the challenging day immensely.”
