Congratulating Tahnee on securing her Talent Camp spot, engineering lecturer David McIlmoyle, said it was well deserved.
“Tahnee did the Level 2 Diploma last year and has a great attitude. She’s hardworking and very determined and a joy to have in the class. I wish her every success.”
As one of Northern Ireland’s leading firms in engineering and business, CDE is ranked among the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200. The company designs, manufactures and commissions wet processing plants. To date, it has delivered over 2000 projects globally. CDE’s Cookstown plant is the world’s largest campus dedicated to the wet processing of materials in the sand & aggregates, mining, C&D waste recycling, industrial sands and environmental sectors. The company is continually looking for innovative solutions for some of the world’s most complex problems, including the global sand and plastics crises, overused landfills, and environmental destruction in the mining industry.
CDE Chief Operating Officer, Sean Kerr explained the thinking behind the company’s inaugural Talent Camp.
“We’re committed to nurturing talent at CDE and feel that everyone deserves an opportunity to follow their dreams. The Talent Camp will help broaden the young people’s horizons, helping them develop personally and professionally and could even kick-start a successful career in either business or engineering for them.”
The Talent Camp which was open to 15 – 17 year olds living in Mid Ulster, was heavily oversubscribed.
Sean continued. “Many schools and colleges in the area were invited to attend an open day at CDE headquarters in Cookstown. The company founder and chairman, Tony Convery, welcomed students and explained the different functions of the company. He also spoke to them about the career opportunities within the company and encouraged them to apply to the Talent Camp. The students were given a guided tour of the premises by staff from across the business.
“There was a lot of interest but as we could only select the top 20 applicants, it’s quite an achievement to secure a place.”
