This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.
Course Content
The OCN NI Level 3 Award in Working with Children and Young People with Special Needs is designed to provide the practitioner with the skills and knowledge required to enable them to work effectively with children and young people with special needs.
There are 5 learning outcomes covered:
- Understand special needs.
- Understand factors which affect learning.
- Understand how to support individuals with special needs.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of professionals working in the special needs area.
- Understand the principles and practice of advocacy.
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, though learners are expected to have an interest in working with children and young people with special educational requirements.
Learners must be at least aged 18 years of age on or before 1 July 2021, resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK.
The OCN NI Level 3 Award in Working with Children and Young People with Special Needs Qualification enables progression into further learning in this area or into employment.
