If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Course Aims
To develop a basic understanding of the Sports Industry and reach a level to enable entry into the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport. A Level 2 BTEC Diploma prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as:
- Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma/Level 3 BTEC Diploma/Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport
- Advanced VCE in Leisure and Recreation

Assessment is through assignments and projects.
Course Update
Please note that due to ongoing major campus construction projects courses at Ballymena, Coleraine and Ballymoney may be relocated to alternative suitable locations as required.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D-G, or above or other relevant qualifications, or related work experience. In circumstances where there are more applications for the course than there are places available, the College reserves the right to ask for higher grades.
Students who successfully complete the qualification can progress to further education such as Level 3 90 Credit Diploma or Extended Diploma in Sport or gain employment in Sports Centres, Leisure Centres or Outdoor Activity Centres.
