This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme.  This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.


Course Content

This course provides the learner with a good grounding in understanding the needs of learners with ADHD when working within the education sector. Units covered include:

Unit 1: Meeting the Needs of Learners with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the Mainstream Classroom

The purpose of the unit is to gain a deeper understanding of ADHD and the impact of the condition on the individual and their behaviour and learning in the classroom environment. Learners will explores aspects of positive behaviour management and examines how the impact of ADHD on learning can be modified.

Unit 2: Be able to identify the impact that ADHD has on a person

The aim is to have a greater understanding of the impact which ADHD has on a person during everyday life.

Evidence gathered for online portfolio against learning outcomes.


This qualification is suitable for learners aged 19 years or over on or before 1 July 2022, resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK. 

The qualification is particularly suitable for those who already work in the field or who are looking to move into this area of work. It would be particular beneficial to unemployed people as they would acquire new skills and have the advantage of a qualification in the field.


Learners may be able to progress to Level 3 Meeting the Needs of Learners with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the Mainstream Classroom
