Course Content
During this course you will work on your own piece at your own pace will full instructions and guidance. You will learn the basic principles of upholstery, modern and traditional depending on your individual piece. Guidance will be provided through each stage from initial stripping, through the application of webbing, springs, stuffing, foam, stitching, piping, buttoning, cane work and applying the finished fabric.
You will be required to bring an item of furniture, for example footstool, kitchen or dining chair, ottoman. Any item(s) you are considering working on bring along to the first class and we can discuss and decide what to start with. Any tools you may have bring along to enable work to commence. A selection of tools are available in class to use. Most used and useful tools include scissors, small tack hammer, pliers, tack lifter, staple remover, curved needles web stretcher and staple gun.
