Course Content
This qualification is designed for managers, department heads, and other practising middle managers to develop skills and experience, improve your performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.
Students will learn how to develop their ability to lead, motivate and inspire. Use core management techniques to drive better results, provide strategic leadership as well as day-to-day management. They will also benchmark their managerial capability and raise their professional profile within the organisation
Currently students undertake the following units:
- Assessing your own leadership capability and performance
- Delegating authority in the workplace
- Developing and leading teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives
Whilst ILM offer flexibility in the choice of units, based on current research into leadership requirements in the workplace, Northern Regional College have identified these units to help develop key skills.

Assessment Methods
Knowledge, understanding and application to industry will be principally assessed through written assignments, presentations and professional discussions. There are no formal examinations.
Course Update
Please note that due to ongoing major campus construction projects courses at Ballymena, Coleraine and Ballymoney may be relocated to alternative suitable locations as required.
Applicants will be either practising or aspiring middle managers with experience to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. Learners with experience in project management will also be considered. An interview is required prior to entry on this programme.
Applicants should have ESOL Level 2 or GCSE English pass grade (or equivalent) and also be proficient in the use of ICT.

Where mature students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions by 12th August, as an application deadline will apply. It is at the College's discretion to consider APEL enquiries after the dates stated.
Successful candidates may progress to further qualifications, such as the HNC in Business, or another qualification at a suitable level, within the National Qualifications Framework.
